Soaps and Salts - Holiday Gift Ideas

Soaps and Salts - Holiday Gift Ideas
Gift giving and holiday cheer, what a great combination. This is one of those times of the year when you walk into a department store and you feel as though you're being accosted by the perfume fairies.

If you come in through the main entrance of a store, from the time you enter until you get to the escalator/elevator, a minimum of 5 people will ask you if you'd like to try the scent they're pushing.

One young lady was even stationed outside the ladies room with body butter and perfume mist. If you liked what she had, she'd walk you down to her station and show you the rest of her line.

I thought that was a great approach. She said every time she took a break shed spend 5 minutes outside the ladies room and see who might like what she was selling.

While a lot of you are out shopping for holiday gifts there's another set of you making those special gifts for loved ones. Scented soaps and bath salts have always been part of holiday gift items.

Soaps and Salts for Holiday Gifts

Soaps

Did you know that one of the most popular gift items is Soaps? Every year we'd give my mother some type of soap, body powder and perfume combination gift basket.

She asked us one year did she smell. We told her no, we thought she'd like the idea of having something we'd made. After that year we started thinking it through a bit more. Mother's, don't you love them!

Soaps were always a big deal in our house because my great grandmother would make it.. There was soap for your body and soap for laundry.

Bath Salts

While soap might be one of the most popular gift items, bath salts are just as popular. They are easy to make and you can teach your children how to make gifts for their grandmothers. Who knows, you might find yourself with a budding entrepreneur.

Did you know that bath salts neutralize the acids in your skin? This makes it easy for the fragrance of the salts to cling to your body. Epsom salts, one of the ingredients in a bath salt blend, relaxes and heals your skin.

Other ingredients found in bath salts are baking soda, citric acid (acts as a preservative), sea salt (coarse, chunky or crystals) and powdered buttermilk (helps cleanse, soften and nourish your skin).

Rose water offers a gentle fragrance but there's nothing like adding a few drops of a beautiful essential oil in your bath salt blend.

Most of the cost of your gifts will go into the packaging. Presentation is just as important as the bath salts.
