My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (which is known as Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru) is based on a light novel series written by Wataru Watari and illustrated by Ponkan8.

The main character of the series is Hachiman Hikigaya, a high school boy who is isolated and friendless. He believes that "youth" is an illusion created by hypocrites that are born out of the ashes of past failures.

At the beginning of the first episode, he hands in an assignment, which is an essay about looking back at his high school years. Hachiman's teacher doesn't like the tone of his essay, and as punishment, forces him to join the school's Service Club. She hopes that being part of the club will help improve his personality and make him a "better person."

Yukino Yukinoshita is the leader of the Service Club, and is the club's only member until Hachiman joins. She's smart and beautiful, but has an icy demeanor. She can also become easily disgusted by the naivete of others.

During the first episode, a girl named Yui Yuigahama comes to the Service Club, asking for help to make cookies to give to someone. Yui is a cheerful and outgoing girl; however, she has an inability to deal with issues by herself. At the end of the first episode, Yui begins attending the Service Club.

As the title of the series implies, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU is a romantic comedy. While there are some serious moments in the first episode, it's definitely more on the comedic side. There was a particular section in the first episode where the audience can hear Hachiman's thoughts that made me snicker a little bit. From watching the first episode, this series seems to be good for what it's trying to do.

Animation-wise, the series has what I would consider to be a "typical" look for an anime romantic comedy. While the animation is nothing to write home about, it's not bad, either. To me, this "typical" look works well for the story that the series is telling.

However, I should mention that there was a scene where it was obvious both from reading the subtitles and listening to the audio that a swear word was being said several times during an argument. Outside of that, though, I didn't really see or hear anything else that could have been objectionable. Personally, I would recommend My Teen Romanic Comedy SNAFU to anime viewers who are 15 or 16 years of age and older.
