Last-Minute Gifts for Sweepstakers

Last-Minute Gifts for Sweepstakers
Do you have a sweepstakes fanatic in your life? Are you stressed about what to by as a gift this holiday season? Sweepstakers like the same types of gifts as everyone else, but here are a few ideas if you're looking for something with a lottery, contest or sweepstakes theme. These are all chosen based on the fact that you can buy them while on your usual shopping trips.

Postage: While many of us shop online—even for postage— most of us have to stop at the post office sometime, so it would be easy to buy extra stamps for your sweepstaking friend. Unless they only enter online sweeps only, they're bound to be using their fair share of postage. If you think that's too boring, there are stamped envelopes and postcards, both of which are used in entering contests.

Office Supply Store Gift Cards: OfficeMax and Office Depot sell mailing supplies, so gift cards to these stores would be a treat for sweepstakers. Desk organizing and writing supplies are used by avid entrants. One bonus is that some grocery stores like Kroger and drug stores sell gift cards to these office supply shops, so you can purchase them during your regular holiday shopping.

Scratch-off Games: Scratch-off games come in many denominations, but the $1 tickets are very popular. They're usually available anywhere lottery tickets are sold.

Luck-Themed Items: Does your friend love shamrocks or keep a horseshoe above their door for good luck? A small lucky charm is another last-minute gift item you should be able to find quickly without much hassle. Jewelry counters in big box (Walmart, K-Mart, etc.) or department stores may have birthstone jewelry or lucky pendants like four-leaf clover or a favorite number. If their lucky number is 8, the classic Magic-8 ball toy is still around too at drug stores and usually wherever toys are sold.

Games and Puzzles: Some sweepstakers love games of chance, regular board games and puzzles just as much as entering sweeps. You will find many during your holiday shopping trip for toys including crossword puzzle books, playing cards, board games, poker and Texas Hold 'Em supplies, and electronic handheld games like blackjack.

As a quick gift for a coworker, you can place your small item in a luck-themed mug and wrap it in cellophane, then tie it up with a ribbon. Candy, coffee or miniature liquor bottles are a great way to round off this small gift. If you have some extra time and cash, consider putting together a gift basket. I give ideas on how to do this in Gift Baskets for Sweepstakers.
