Cover Your Eyes Review

Cover Your Eyes Review
Dixie Simmons was an unknown singer looking for fame, and quite often sang at Rudy’s Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the last to sing that Thursday night and gave it her all, much to the enjoyment of the crowd and the bar owner. Because no buses were running at the time of the morning, she ended up walking home. On her way, someone bludgeoned her to death.

Detective Deke Morgan received a call that a body had been found and he headed out in the rain to the murder scene in the early morning hours.

Rachel Wainwright was a public defender in Nashville who was on a crusade to reopen a thirty-year-old case believing that the wrong man was in prison. Detective Morgan doesn’t agree with Rachael, but it seemed that the person who was killing young women now was somehow tied in with the killing of Annie Dawson under the same circumstances thirty-years-ago.

The more Rachel presses forward in her quest for a DNA test, the more Deke realizes someone is now out to shut down the crusader. Whether he likes it or not, he is now involved in a deadly game trying to stop the person who is targeting and silencing young women.

Cover Your Eyes, by Mary Burton, is the first of four novels featuring the preeminent law enforcement Morgan family of Nashville, Tennessee, followed by Be Afraid. She is the author of twenty-six published novels and five novellas as of this writing.

The novel will send chills down readers’ spine as they read the detailed thoughts and actions by the villain, and the horror felt by the victims. The author is astute at drawing the reader into the mind of the killer to the point where at times it is difficult to continue reading.

This novel is not for the faint of heart, but well worth the read for those who enjoy romantic suspense.

To define this book as a page-turner is just a start of what the author has in store for her followers. It is as difficult to pull away from the story as it is when passing by a horrific accident. Some people just can’t look away. If you are drawn to well-written suspense, this is the book, and series, for you.
