Apple cider vinegar
Raw apple cider vinegar, a centuries-old health tonic, may be more effective than your allergy medicine for controlling your symptoms. The fermented liquid was extolled by Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine,” as a powerful health booster. These days, many are turning to drinking raw apple cider vinegar to treat a variety of health conditions, including allergies.

ACV benefits have not been widely researched or examined in randomized clinical trials. However, that doesn’t mean this ancient remedy isn’t effective. In his day, Hippocrates used apple cider vinegar (ACV) to treat numerous ailments. Organic raw apple cider vinegar has a variety of medicinal uses including boosting immunity and controlling allergies.

ACV users claim the vinegar reduces allergy symptoms from pets, food and other environmental sources. Here is a sampling of other health conditions ACV may help:

•Sinus infections
•Acne
•High cholesterol
•Flu
•Chronic fatigue
•Candida
•Acid reflux
•Sore throat
•Contact dermatitis
•Arthritis
•Gout

ACV is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized and has five percent acidity. Raw ACV contains the Mother of Vinegar, which looks like floating strands in the cider. According to proponents of ACV, these floating strands are what help to fight off infection and bring your body back into balance. When buying ACV, make sure to get the unpasteurized, unfiltered, unrefined variety, and check for brownish colored, tiny, cobweb “mother” floating in it. “The Mother” also may contain potassium, calcium, magnesium, acetic acid, malic acid, citric acid and lactic acid.

As an allergy remedy, be sure to drink ACV on a consistent basis. Mix one teaspoon to one tablespoon ACV in an eight-ounce glass of water and drink three times a day. You also may add 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1/2 tablespoon raw honey and drink three times a day.

You can add ACV to your diet by simply taking one teaspoon to one tablespoon straight and chasing it with a glass of water three times a day. However, mixing ACV with water may be easier to swallow.

Be patient in expecting results. It may take several weeks for the ACV to help balance out your GI tract and build up defenses to fight off allergies.
