Boost Your Beauty With Essential Oils

Boost Your Beauty With Essential Oils
At one time essential oils were only associated with aromatherapy. Now they are an internal part of the beauty world. You’ll find them in everything from spa products, to household products to skin and body treatment products.

Essential oils are used to energize and to calm. They can boost your workout at the gym, helping you to stay focused and keep moving. Some of the oils that are used in this environment are grapefruit, lemon, peppermint and rosemary.

Essential oils are also used to help to calm and relax you. They work well when soaking in your tub. Oils in this category would include chamomile, lavender, rose patchouli and ylang ylang.

You can use these oils alone or in combination with each other to create some very nice recipes for yourself. Let’s take a look at a few recipes:

Beauty Recipes Using Essential Oils

Shower and Bath Gel

1/2 cup of unscented liquid soap
1 teaspoon of light oil such as sunflower oil
4-5 drops of essential oil

Stir all the ingredients blending them together. Pour the shower gel into a clean plastic bottle. Make sure it’s a container meant to store products with essential oils.

Scented Bath Salts

1 cup of epsom salt
1/2 cup of sea salt or kosher salt
1/4 cup baking soda
4 -5 drops of essential oil

Store in glass container until ready to use.

Aromatic Body Powder

Often referred to as dusting powder, you can use this product to keep your skin fresh.

1 cup of cornstarch
1 tablespoon orrisroot powder
6-8 drops of essential oil

Place the cornstarch and orrisroot powder into a glass bowl and add your essential oil. Use a whisk to stir the essential oil, then place into a container with a tight fitting lid.

Here are some suggested oils to use in your dusting powder:

Bergamot - to uplift and stimulate
Chamomile - For calming
Eucalyptus - to energize
Lavender to relax
Orange to refresh and energize
Patchouli for those romantic moods

Air Freshener/Workout Mist

1/2 cup of distilled water
6 drops of essential oil

Add 6 drops of essential oil to a bottle then add the distilled water and shake. While citrus oils are typically used to freshen your air space, different essential oils can be used as well.
