Men, Their Skin and Aromatic Blends
Do scents make sense to men? You know that they like to smell good or the fragrance industry wouldn’t have a segment for them. It goes beyond how good they smell when they’re trying to seduce you, because men have taken their health and they way the smell to another level .

Men are actually looking for essential oils and botanicals for skin, hair and body care, and also wellness. It seems that the spa industry has opened up to the concerns of men in the skin and body segment and are creating facial, body, massage and exfoliating products that enhance their skin and smell good at the same time.

We often equate using aromatherapy to relieve stress and manage busy lifestyle necessities to women. As men have educated themselves to the use of essential oils and aromatherapy for natural stress relief, a growing need for oil blends for men has emerged.

Here are a few Male-friendly Essential Oils and Botanicals used in the Men’s Market.

Frankincense (Boswellia cateri) is great for dry, sensitive, mature and sun damaged skin. It helps to calm and soothe the skin as well as reduce scarring.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) is anti fungal, antiseptic and anti-viral

Immortelle (Helichrysum italicum) stimulates cell turnover to help address acne, scar tissue and hyper pigmentation. It too is anti fungal just as Tea Tree and antibacterial.

Sandalwood (Santalum album) repairs dry and damaged skin. It is also anti-inflammatory and anti fungal.

Comfrey (Symphytum official) is often referred to as “nature’s allantoin” which is known for its ability to turn over healthy skin cells and lock in moisture.

Calendula (calendula officials) Known as the “healing” herb, calendula is anti-inflammatory, an antiseptic and it detoxifies.

Oats (Avena sativa) are known to soothe dry cracked and damaged skin.

The looking for products, you’ll want to make sure some, if not all of these oils and botanicals, are included in the ingredient list. They can be incorporated into toners, cleansers, massage products and moisturizers.
