Aromatherapy Book Review

Aromatherapy Book Review
** I borrowed a copy of The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy from a friend to write this review.

Written by Valerie Ann Worwood, The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy features over 800 natural, non-toxic, and fragrant recipes for health, beauty, and safe home and work environments. There are pros and cons to using this book for learning about aromatherapy.

This 712 page book is available in e-book and paperback formats. Chapters include:

Medicines Out of the Earth (science of oils, conversion tables, and other important information for experts or newbies), The Basic Care Kit (perfect for anyone who wants to use essential oils to treat conditions such as headaches, blisters, and abdominal pain), The Self-Defense Kit (viral infections, bacterial infections, and information for clean hospitals and nursing home), Occupational Oils for the Working Person (if you work in an office or deal with back pain from your job, this chapter is for you), The Basic Travel Kit, The Gentle Touch for Babies, Children, and Teenagers, A Woman's Natural Choice (covers breast care, ovarian cysts, pregnancy, and much more), Essential Help in Maturing Years (leg cramps, gout, varicose veins), and so much more. Thankfully the chapters and their contents are laid out clearly, so you can easily find everything you'll need.

Author Valerie Ann Worwood is an aromatherapist and reflexologist who runs her own clinic in England and researches aromatherapy and its effects on infertility and endometriosis. She also lectures all over the world on the benefits of aromatherapy and essential oils. With her education in background on the subject, I felt confident her book would be a resource that would be indispensable.

Are you an athlete? Have you ever considered what essential oils can do for your injuries? This book will teach you how to treat sprains and more. Are you dealing with stress? This book has helpful tips for beating it. Did you know you can help your child enhance their sleep and memory? I didn't, but this book provides good information I'll be able to use in the future. The book includes an A-Z guide of essential oils methods of use, which is very handy.

I know this book will be a staple on my bookshelf for years to come. I am impressed with the amount of research and detail the author goes into in order to provide us with the most complete and concise information possible. If you, like me, prefer essential oil and aromatherapy based solutions instead of reaching for the prescriptions or pre-made blends, this book is for you. This book is a one-stop-shop for information you'd have to read multiple other books to find.

One issue I have with this book is that it isn't as comprehensive as I would have liked. I have other aromatherapy books on my shelf that have different information. Other than that, I really did enjoy it.
