Creative Mason Jars

Creative Mason Jars

Plain and simple, I have a fascination with jars. I will take them in any shape or size. I simply love them. As far as I am concerned they make great dcor. For instance, have you ever looked at an event and it twinkles, sparkles and shines. Usually that is created with candlelight. Candles are one of the cheapest forms of creating ambience out there. In my mind though, if you put candles with jars, you have reflective ambience. So we have sparkle, shine and reflection and we did not break the bank.

I have a couple of ideas that I have used and they have worked well. You get various size jars and fill them with colored water. The colored water mixture is just a simple mix of water and food color. From my experience the blues and reds reflect the best. You take all the jars and place them on cake tiers in the center of the table or on a buffet table. Then you float floating candles in them. The flame reflects the color. You can also submerge the jars in baskets of Mardi Gras beads. Mardi Gras beads are a whole other story.

Another one I really like is a gift jar. You can use the gift jar as a wedding souvenir. You find a recipe you like that can be layered in a mason jar. Print the recipe on a card that can be tied to the jar with a ribbon of your color choice. You create a label for the bride and groom. Place that on the jar as well. Avery makes some great printable labels. Try to look for a recipe that is a favorite of both of you. This will mean that much more. There are a great number of websites out there that have recipes and will even allow you to print labels. When your wedding guests create the dish, they will think of you. One really good one for this application is, chocolate chip cookies.

Mason jars as drink jars. Now that is a classic kick your shoes off and enjoy yourself approach to a wedding. These can be used to serve your signature drink in. Create a beautiful colored recipe and tie a coordinating ribbon around the rim. This is crisp and classic. Guest also love it when you print off a recipe card as a giveaway.

These are just a few ideas that I thought would be great to share. I would also again love to offer my help in creating signature drinks for your events, as well as menu design.
