Pokemon Indigo League Box 2

Pokemon Indigo League Box 2
The second DVD box set of Pokemon Indigo League features episodes 27 through 52 of the Pokemon anime series. The set contains three DVDs; the first two discs have nine episodes, while the third disc contains eight episodes.

On the first disc of the set, Brock gets a Vulpix; Ash says goodbye to Primeape; Ash and his friends are introduced to Magnemite, Grimer, Muk, Diglett, Digtrio, Voltorb, Ponyta, Kangaskhan, and Ditto; and Ash earns the Soul badge.

On the second disc, Ash almost says goodbye to Pikachu; and Ash and his friends meet Eevee, Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Snorlax, Exegutor, Exeggecute, Paras, Jigglypuff, Aerodactyl and other prehistoric Pokemon.

On the third disc, we learn that James actually came from a rich family; Ash and his friends meet Growlithe, Farfetch’d, and Togepi; Ash and his friends also meet a Pokemon photographer named Snap, who travels with them for a few episodes; Ash tries to take the Pokemon League exam; and we are introduced to Butch and Cassidy, two other members of Team Rocket.

When you put one of the discs into your DVD player, it goes to the Viz Media logo after the FBI Warning, and then goes directly to the main menu. The main menu only has two options: "Play" and "Episodes." The "Play" feature allows you to play all of the episodes back-to-back, while the "Episodes" feature allows you to choose where to begin watching on the disc. However, if you finish an episode using the "Episode" feature, the disc will automatically take you to the next episode on the disc.

There is only one extra included on each DVD, and it's the same extra on each one. This extra is the full-length "Pokerap." This is a song and rap that sometimes appeared at the end of an episode if filler was needed; however, many times it appeared, it would be a shortened version of the "Pokerap." Here, the "Pokerap" is in its entirety.

This feature cannot be accessed through the main menu. The only way to see the "Pokerap" is to watch the disc all the way to the end, because it's tacked on after the ending credits of the last episode on the disc. You can also get to the "Pokerap" by choosing to watch the second half of the last episode on the disc, and then hitting the "Skip" button on your DVD remote to get to the "Pokerap."

Just like with the first DVD box set of Pokemon Indigo League, it's obvious that Viz Media put this set together "on the cheap." However, a fan of the Pokemon anime series needs to pick this up if they want to acquire all of the episodes on DVD.

This set retails for anywhere between $20 and $40, which is actually a decent price for what you get in the set. If you're a Pokemon fan, you need to acquire this DVD set so you can continue following Ash on his Pokemon journey.

I wrote this review after watching a copy of this DVD box set that my husband and I purchased.
