Happy New Year
Here in Australia (in Adelaide) we've had a warm welcome to the New Year where we've had a week of temperatures between 39C and 44C. Thankfully it's a little cooler today. My daughter, who lives in Alabama is arriving tody and I'm sure going from winter to heatwave is pretty hard.
Here's the latest article from the Deafness site at BellaOnline.com. I'm pretty passionate about Cochlear Implants because my implant returned me from being totally deaf for 15-20 years to living pretty much normally in a hearing world. Sure I have to use the processor to hear. But at least I can hear. I use a phone, attend meetings, go to the movies, listen to the radio and best of all I enjoy playing the piano again. A really poignant gain for me because I had been a piano teacher and played easy listening dinner music in pubs and restaurants.
What is a Cochlear Implant
A Cochlear Implant is not an alternative to a hearing aid. It is only an option if a person cannot effectively use hearing aids. It is not a high powered hearing aid and does not amplify sound. It is a serious decision, one which is taken after testing and all other avenues for hearing are explored.
