Self-Absorption in the Magazine Aisle
Yesterday I cruised the magazine racks at my local supermarket. Even this brief survey of magazine cover articles revealed appalling things about the state of human beings in 21st century America. Namely, we love our stuff and we love ourselves, to a depth that is not okay for followers of Jesus.
From my heart to yours
October 1st: I picked a zucchini from my garden this morning. That is completely unprecedented. My garden normally freezes the first or second week of September. From where I stand, the world is getting a little wackier every year. Lots of really bad wackiness, but a longer growing season is a sweet blessing.
