Effie and Her Silver Snakes
This sounds like the title of a children’s story told by an Elder. However, Effie is a talented Zuni woman, and her silver snakes are known around the world.

This past April, I met a new friend and learned of Effie Calavaza and her widely collected silverwork. It is so unique! This coming April Pow Wow, I think my husband will be following me to Cherokee Creations to select one of her pieces from Joy Bloxham's inventory. It would be a fabulous gift for our 20th anniversary.

With a sad heart, I must share the loss of another Blackfeet Elder and remarkable woman. Elouise Cobell walked on this past Sunday after 14 years of battling within the courts for a settlement and disbursement of funds for the government's misappropriation of land use royalties.
