Ham Salad Sandwich Recipe

Greetings from the Land of OZ!

Last week I suggested that ham salad would pair well with the Broccoli Cheese Soup. If you've got leftover ham developing a good case of freezer burn, you'll want to thaw it and have it ready to process into ham salad! This is a classic ham salad recipe. It's delicious!

This recipe is so versatile. There are many ways to use ham salad. I'll share some with you, then I'd love to hear your creative ideas. The recipe will be featured Saturday, but it is waiting for your sneak peak in the Classics section of the Sandwiches Site.

Do you have some hamburger buns languishing in the freezer, and you really don't feel like turning them into some kind of an egg casserole? Here's a tip that I saved for Sandwiches Newsletter readers. Use the hamburger buns, turned inside out, to make grilled ham and cheese.

Heat a heavy skillet. Spray the cut sides of the bun with non-stick cooking spray. Put the buns, sprayed side down, in the skillet. On the flat side of the bun, place a piece of cheese. Grill both parts of the bun until the cut sides are golden and the cheese melts. Move them to a plate, and spread ham salad over the cheese. Cover with the rounded side of the bun. It's a great way to use those old buns!
