Art of the Toast - Customs and Best Phrases for Toasting
For some people, the joy of giving this toast is a welcome designation, but for those who are not familiar with public speaking, the assignation of giving the toast is filled with anxiety until the moment is over.

Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

Anyone who has ever experienced the lusty flavors of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur over ice cream understands the joy of combining non-traditional toppings with a frozen treat.

Ice creams of vanilla, french vanilla or butter pecan serve as a delightful base for the addition of fruit beers and nut toppings.  Some aperitif-style beers may even be warmed before drizzling over your icy mountain.  The following are recommended flavors for the discriminating palate:

Quelque Chose - Unibroue, Chambly, Quebec, Canada (serve warmed)
Frambozen Raspberry Brown Ale - New Belgium Brewing Company, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
Chocolate Stout - Rogue Ales Brewery, Newport, Oregon, USA
Founders Rubaeus - Founders Brewing Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic - Boston Beer Company, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
McAuslan Apricot Wheat Ale - McAuslan Brewing Company, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Wild Raspberry Ale - Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver, Colorado

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A brunette, a redhead and a blonde walk into a bar. For the sake of brevity, each one orders her drink with an abbreviated code word.

The brunette walks up to the bartender and says, "Hey give me an ML." The bartender nods his head and hands her a Miller Lite.

Following her, the redhead walks up to the bartender and says, "I'd like a BL." Giving her a nod, the bartender pulls up a Bud Lite.

Last, the blonde walks up to the bartender and says, "Give me a Fifteen."

"A Fifteen?" the bartender replies, "What the hell is that?"

"Oh, you know," the blonde says, "A Seven and Seven."

Beer News:

Anheuser-Busch caved in under criticism of their support of Bud Pong, the popular "beer chugging" game based on the original game of "Beirut", also known as "Beer Pong."  In this game, ten cups of beer are lined up in the form of a triangle at two opposite ends of a long table, while members of each team take turns attempting to pitch or bounce a ping pong ball into the cups at the other end.  If met with success, the opposite team has to chug the cup of golden liquid.

Budweiser sponsored Bud Pong tournaments in 47 markets during the summer season, falling prey to widespread accusations that they were promoting overindulgence, aka, "binge drinking."

In an attempt to clear the record, Anheuser-Busch has changed their official rules to specify water to be used as the "chugging drink" in the massively popular game.  R-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ight!

Go figure!

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Morimoto Imperial Pilsner - Rogue Ales Brewery, Newport, Oregon, USA
Style: American Double Pilsner

Morimoto's glistening, golden body lingers beneath a thick, frothy eggshell head, while fresh, sweet pils aromas drift lazily among clean notes of florals, herbs and citrus.

A blast of hop bitterness greets the tongue in an immediate celebration, while spiced peach and citrus shadows make love in the upper balcony, enlightened with the presence of yeast, spice and malts.

Mouthfeel is firm but soft and classically Czech, with an added infusion of high-powered TNT.  An explosive masterpiece of quintessential excellence!

Cheers!
