| | Earlier this week I read an article in the Sacramento Bee about how some handcrafted toy artisans are busier than ever because of consumers' new fears over imported toys (especially the lead paint problems). For toy makers, the ability to label their creations "Made in USA" has become a big selling point. If you sell your handmade jewelry in the United States, then you probably also want to target customers who prefer non-imported goods. But you need to be careful about labeling your jewelry as American made, to avoid violating federal law. In this week's article I talk about the ways you may be able to call your jewelry American without getting into trouble with the FTC.
