Cigars and Beer - Beer Fox Pairings
Among Cigar Aficionado's Top 100 Cigar Smokers of the 20th Century, there are three women, a testimonial to the fact that cigar appreciation is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of taste. The aromas and flavors inherent in a finely crafted cigar can be appreciated and evaluated as effectually...

Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

Nuts, whether in the shell, or elegantly presented in gourmet fashion, have always been a treat with beer.   A nutcracker and basket, filled with a cornucopia of mixed nuts in their natural shells, is a welcome pleasure while passing time with friends and enjoying a flavorful microbrew.

The clean, crisp flavors of Dortmunder Export, Hefeweizen or an India Pale Ale are refreshing brews that join naturally with a roasted mix. Seasonals and Imperial Stouts grab brown-sugared pecans, yogurt dipped nuts and coconut balls with their complementary characteristics.

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A Frenchman, an Englishman, and a New Yorker were captured by cannibals.

The chief comes to them and says, "the bad news is that now that we've caught you, we're going to kill you. We will put you in a pot and cook you, eat you, and then use your skins to build a canoe. The good news is that you get to choose how you die."

The Frenchman says, "I take ze sword."
The chief gives him a sword, he says, "Vive la France!" and runs himself through.

The Englishman says, "a pistol for me, please."
The chief gives him a pistol, he points it at his head, says,
"God save the queen!" and blows his brains out.

The New Yorker says, "gimme a fork."

The chief is puzzled, but he shrugs and gives him a fork.
The New Yorker takes the fork and starts jabbing himself all over -- the stomach, the sides, the chest, everywhere. There's blood gushing out all over; it's horrible.

The chief is appalled, even for a cannibal.
He asks, "My God almighty, what are you doing?"

And the New Yorker replies, "So much for your canoe!"

Beer News:

Testosterama is under way this weekend at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, a man's playground filled with stereo equipment, power tools, flat-screened TV's and beer.  What better way to balance the deck for all those inane decorating shows HE's had to endure?  A man's world, where no ribbon cutting occurred on opening day...there was a CHAIN CUTTING!  Where sports cars abound, and motorcycles and boats are their sidekicks.  So sit back, Guys, have fun and suck up some suds!

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Kellerbier - Triumph Brewing Company, New Hope, Pennsylvania, USA
Style - Keller Bier / Zwickel Bier

A hazy body of golden mist sends tiny threads of carbonation upward to greet a voluminous head of creamy egg-white foam.

Yeasty baked bread and lemon zest rise to the nose, with sweetened fruit lingering in the secret attic.  Bready malts balance on a tightrope with floral and citrus hop-companions to create a memorable act.  Finishes clean and crisp with a pleasantly grainy aftertaste.

Cheers!
