So Many American Indian Veterans – Why?
Knowing the darker parts of our history begs the question frequently asked. Why would so many volunteer to protect and defend a country which has treated their People so badly?

Veterans have always been honored in my family even though our heritage was not to be discussed. With so many in the Family Tree, it was more a "Family Tradition" for us. When I attended my first Pow Wow and saw how the military was respected and honored, I understood. Like other family traditions, this too was rooted in our heritage.
Every day should be Veteran's Day. At every opportunity, make time to Thank a Vet and Active Duty Service Person. I'll admit, it's awkward the first time, walking up to a stranger to say "Thank You." However, seeing the gratitude in their eyes makes the next opportunity one you will seek out.
