Thanksgiving is tomorrow. For many of us it is a day of family gatherings, eating too much, and maybe some football. But the history of this National Holiday is not a pleasant one for Native Americans. The day is often renamed, not necessarily in defiance, but perhaps more in tradition.

Thanksgiving, the Forgotten Story
Our children have been taught the myth of the First Thanksgiving with happy Pilgrims and Indians. There are a few kernels of truth in the story. However, knowing more of the factual history of this National Holiday, one can understand why it is problematic for many American Indians.
