Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

Seasonal Ales are abundant at this time of year.  There are so many flavors of cinnamon, cloves, and baked bread, along with others that are highly hopped or have higher-than-usual alcohol content.  Be bold!   Try all the exciting new brews you can lay your fingers on.  They are only available for a brief time, so take advantage of the moment as you would a new lover!

Sugar-Mama Pecans for the Holidays:

The Beer Fox says, "This sweet treat is a great go-together with pretzels and beer."

Selected Brew:  Hop Hearty Ale -  New Glarus Brewing Co., New Glarus, Wisconsin   USA
Type:  India Pale Ale - Amber in color - Aroma is intensely hoppy; flavors are rich in caramel tones; clean, bitter, and aromatic.

2 lbs. shelled pecans
4 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 C. firmly packed brown sugar
4 oz. Hop Hearty Ale
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In small saucepan over low/medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly.   Add Hop Hearty Ale, salt, Tabasco sauce, and cinnamon.   Stir in pecans to evenly coat.

Spread sugared pecans in a single layer on greased cookie sheet.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Watch pecans carefully.  Do not allow mixture to smoke or burn.

Cool in single layer on buttered waxed paper.

Brews News:

According to a report by the Associated Press, two Buddhist monks abandoned their monastic vows when they fell in love with the beer girls who sold the brew across the street from their temple in central Cambodia.

The chief monk of the temple accused the young monks, both 19, of secretly courting the girls, a violation of Buddhist precepts.
