This week in crime history 12/9-12/15:

12/9/2008-Rod Blagojevich, IL Governor, was arrested on charges of trying to sell then-President-Elect Obama's Senate seat.

12/10/1968-The "300 million yen robbery" takes place in Tokyo, Japan. The robbers have never been caught.

12/11/1991-A Florida jury found Kennedy relation William Kennedy Smith not guilty of rape in a trial that many remember for the blue dot placed over the victim's face as her testimony was televised.

12/12/1980-The United States copyright law was expanded to include computer programs, a wise decision given the popularity of computer programs and the ease of criminal copying later technology would offer.

12/13/2000-A group of inmates known as the "Texas 7" escapes from a Texas jail, killing police officer Aubrey Hawkins and committing several robberies.

12/14/1987-The Chrysler Corporation, accused of selling used vehicles falsely advertised as "new," pleads no contest to the charges.

12/15/1983-Kansas City Royals players Willie Aikens, Vida Blue, Jerry Martin and Willie Wilson were suspended after pleading guilty to attempting to buy cocaine.
