Nursery rhymes may well be our very first exposure to poetry and verse. When I was considering nursery rhymes, I heard about how some rhymes have a deeper significance and are not really the simple childish verses they seem to be. So the next time I visited the library I checked out some books about nursery rhymes and was pretty struck by what I read. I thought I might tell you, my readers, about the backgrounds of some of the most famous nursery rhymes of all times. Hope it makes interesting reading!
