Happy Valentine's Day to those of you who celebrate it!
The topic of love always reminds me of how much love is present in an adoption. First, there's a birth mom's love, as she bravely and selflessly chooses the family she believes will give her child the best life possible. Then, there's the overwhelming love of adoptive parents as they welcome a precious child into their lives and homes. Finally, there is the love the adoptee has for everyone in his or her life. Clearly, in adoption, the birth parents, the adoptive parents and the child are all connected. Part of this loving relationship involves explaining adoption to the child.
This week's article at the adoption site on BellaOnline is a review of a book that I believe is wonderful for helping to explain adoption to young children.
Review : Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born
