Hello again
RESOURCES FOR THE HEARING COMMUNITY
We're building resources for the Hearing Community to help understand how best to communicate with those of us have a hearing impairment. If you go to http://www.c-a-network.com then choose 'Services', 'Resources for the Hearing Community' you'll find two printer friendly documents.
One is 'Take the Hearing challenge' - this is a fun thing to do with your friends just to see how hard it is to get along in this world even for a few minutes, without hearing.
The other is 'A list of do's and don'ts when dealing with a hearing impaired person'. Please feel print to print it out and pass around or put it in a prominent place in your work place.
THIS WEEK'S ARTICLE
Last night on one of our prime time channels there was a program called Saving Kids. http://ten.com.au/ten/tv_savingkids.html In Episode 3 a little girl was given two Bahas because she was born without ears and ear canals. Her doctor said that inside she has perfect hearing, but the sound just can't get into it.
Here is this week's article about Baha.
Baha - What is it?
Some people do not have an ear or ear canal and certain kinds of tumours, or the operation to remove them, can cause loss of the middle ear. Sound cannot penetrate the damaged portion but a bone conduction hearing aid could be an option.
