We all love noodles!

The history of who orginated the noodle has gone on for generations, but it appears the answer has finally been found. The Chinese, Italians and Arabs all have claimed being the orginator of noodles.

A recent discovery in China, in the Yellow River, of a pot of thin yellow noodles, that are thought to have been preserved for 4000 years, may have tipped the bowl in China's favour. This find suggests that people were eating noodles at least 1000 years earlier than previously thought, and many centuries before such dishes were documented in Europe.

So did Marco Polo bring noodles from China to Italy? Of course it is also believed that Marco Polo was born on the Island of Korcula along the Dalmatian Coast which is now Croatia.

The ancient noodles found in China are "spaghetti-like" noodles, up to 50 centimetres long. This bowl of noodles was preserved due to a mound of silt which had sealed them in the bowl following a major earthquake and flood.
They discovered that the noodles were made of a species of millet grass grown in north-eastern China at that time. They believe the noodles were made by pulling dough into long strands before boiling.

We do know for that the Chinese brought noodles to Thailand, and the Thai quickly aded the noodles to their tastes and available ingredients such as chiles, lime, and vegetables.
