Today, March 2, is the first day of the Bahá'i month of fasting between sunrise and sunset. It is only 19 days, since the Bahá'í calendar is based upon solar reckoning--19 months of 19 days each. This is a prayerful and meditative time in preparation for the start of a new year, which occurs on the vernal equinox, March 21. (There will be parties!)
