TIP OF THE WEEK
When visiting a friend in the hospital, keep your visit brief. Fifteen to thirty minutes is fine, less if your friend is critically ill. Be upbeat but honest. If she doesn't look "wonderful," don't tell her she does. Let her set the tone for what she wants to talk about. She may want a serious conversation about her illness, or she may want to chat about your favorite sports team, or she may just enjoy having you present and holding her hand. Go with the flow.
