Baha'i

I don't know about you all, but I grew up with Bible stories. I loved many of them, was confused or alarmed by some, but in general thought of them as fables or moral tales. They had no relation to my daily life; the people in them had no more reality to me than talking animals and cartoon flowers.

Then I picked up Frances Worthington's new book about Abraham. What a great read!

The author herself describes the story as opera, meaning it has many of the elements so dear to human storying telling throughout the ages: passion, jealousy, love triangles, epic journeys and daring adventures, as well as true love, altruism, self-sacrifice and perseverance. Huge amounts of research must have been involved, but it doesn't read like a dry, scholarly tome. I recommend it! No matter what your religious background, you will find something new and confirming.

Here's a quick review in the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.
