Native American

July 13 2013 Native American Newsletter

Greetings Sacred Friends,
It amazes me how re-arranging one letter within a word can change its meaning so dramatically. My main example is the word SACRED, especially since I started using my Native name professionally, Sacred Tobacco Woman.

The word SACRED can turn into the word SCARED in an instant. I can still feel it sometimes, scared. The good news is that I now have the strength through knowledge to recognize the fear. I feel the fear as a physical force, a presence, and I bravely stand my ground and let the fear evaporate as I consciously gaze upon it. I then move my body to a power stance and guide my thoughts to a blessing of peace or a prayer of gratitude to the Creator.

This week’s article is inspired by all of the sacred little ones that live as scared little ones in our Native communities.
