Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

Studies by German chemist Udo Pollmer and others, strongly indicate that soaking red meats in beer, before grilling, reduces the formation of cancer-causing HCA's (heterocyclic amines) and actually prevents the formation of these compounds.  The catch?  The beer must have alcohol content in order to be effective.

This is good news for those who love to cook or marinate foods in the delightful brew.  Happy grilling!

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway.

The horse gallops along, seemingly ignorant of its slipping rider.

Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot becomes entangled in the stirrup, and she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune, Randy, the Wal-Mart greeter, sees her and unplugs the horse.

Thank God for heroes.

Beer News:

The debate is hot in Ontario, Canada, over whether the government should get out of the business of selling alcoholic beverages.  The Beverage Alcohol System Review recommends the selling of liquor licenses to retailers.  This would provide a better selection and lower prices, while still keeping the revenue from taxes and current licensing, and increasing revenues from the sale of new licenses.

Finance Minister Greg Sorbara is adamant in his refusal to even consider the recommendation.

Looks like things may get a little warmer in Canada, Beer Fans, so stay tuned...
