Horror Literature

July 7 2007 Horror Literature Newsletter

Here's the latest article from the Horror Literature site at BellaOnline.com.

Hi. My name is Chris Willis, your new Horror Literature editor for BellaOnline.com! If you would permit me to tell you a little something about myself, I will appreciate it.

Well, I have been interested in horror since I wrote my first story at the age of 8 (that's 25 years ago) and have been reading and writing since. Today, I have written a dozen novels and scores of short stories and poems in the horror, dark fiction, speculative fiction and 'adult' genres. I write under the pseudonym Damien Kane and maintain a website at http://www.damienkane.com. I am a member of the Australian Horror Writer's Association and have had work published in anthologies, e-zines, magazines and on the internet.

I am originally from England and now live near Brisbane in Australia with my wife and three great kids.

I've linked in some articles and things of interest you might want to check out. First, if you would like to see what direction I'm facing, I would be honoured if you would read my newsletter update page:

There's also a general article on writing called Where the Wild Things Grow:
Is horror a genre, and why do we keep turning the page? What is the scariest part about horror literature: the story, the idea, or where they came from?

I recently read a fantastic book called 'Born of the Sea' by Victor Kelleher. It takes off where Frankenstein stopped so if you're a Mary Shelley fan, or even a fan of great horror fiction, you must check out my review of his book. Highly recommended:

I'm starting to feel my way around BellaOnline so your patience in the next few weeks will be appreciated, as would any feedback or comments. Further, to participate in free, fun online discussions, this site has a community forum all (I'll be learning about forums soon so forgive my short term absence) about Horror Literature located here:
