Best Beer & Food Destinations in North America
Beer and food are natural partners. These legendary destinations prepare beer and food as the raison d’ être for those of us who delight in the merger.

Extract Champions Beer with Shelton Brothers
When he said his name was Ron Extract, I laughed. How far will an importer of premium craft beer stretch a joke? All the way to Belchertown, Massachusetts?

Beer Cookery - Beefy Sam's Stroganoff
The Beer Fox says, “Foreign/Export Stout neutralizes tomato sharpness in a well-balanced, easy-to-prepare meal, the perfect satisfier for a ravenous appetite.”

Beer Fox Tip of the Week:

The Great American Beer Festival reaches 25 this Fall! From September 28-30, 2006, the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado greets beer enthusiasts from all over the country, where the largest selection of American beers, worldwide, pours out to more than 30,000 fans.

Cooking demos, "Inside the Brewers Studio" patter, silent disco, and beer/food pairings demos keep your glass full throughout the week, while 452 breweries compete for top honors in the Great American Beer Festival Judging Competition. Brewers from 47 states and DC go head-to-head in which over 2441 beers vie for medals in 69 categories.

Is it any wonder that craft beer growth has reached 9% in 2005?

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:

A guy goes to visit his grandmother and he brings his friend with him. While he's talking to his grandmother, his friend starts eating the peanuts on the coffee table, and finishes them off. As they're leaving, his friend says to his grandmother, "Thanks for the peanuts."

She says, "Yeah, since I lost my dentures I can only suck the chocolate off 'em."

*****
A guy calls the hospital. He says, "You gotta' send help! My wife's going into labor!"

The nurse says, "Calm down. Is this her first child?"

He says, "No! This is her husband!"

*****
Airhead Airlines, Flight 101, is coming in for a landing and the pilot is freaking out. The sweat is pouring off his brow. (Plane landing and screeching to a halt: Vvvrrrtttt!) He turns to the co-pilot and says, "Man, that is the shortest runway I ever landed on."

The co-pilot says, "Yeah, and so wide."

Beer News:

Bond...James Bond. Or is it Beer-aficionado Bond?

In the latest Bond flick, Casino Royale, the debonair agent is portrayed with a taste for beer, in line with Ian Fleming's original character in his first book. Heineken signed a six-figure deal to grab the spotlight in the movie, along with some TV ad time using Bond bombshell Eva Green.

Sounds like a little Heiney to me...

Craft Brew of the Week Award:

Flying Scotsman Ruby Ale - Caledonian Brewery, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK

Style: Scottish Ale

Deep ruby glistens in the glass, reflecting richer shades of chestnut and mahogany along the edges. Thick spots of off-white lace scatter from the head, as aromas of malt, spiced raisins, dried raspberry and caramel rise to your nose.

Rich caramel and burnt sugar lay in strong malt layers, with flavors of dark fruit, licorice and peat holding firm. Spruce pine resin lingers in the back, with a toasted, dry finish.

Cheers!
