February 19 2011 Baha'i Newsletter

Spring has come to the Midwest US! Well, it did for about 4 days, anyway. The robins arrived, resident songbirds were singing, and even the Sandhill cranes have started coasting back in small groups to their local nesting areas.

This is about the end of the Bahá'í Calendar, the last month of which is a period of fasting. (More on that next week.) There are a few days left over in the calendar each year because 19 months of 19 days each is only 361. Those Intercalary days are inserted just prior to the 19th month, and are given over to hospitality, gift-giving and charity. Often, there will be parties, and you could be invited to one, but what should you expect? And what will be expected of you?

Here's the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.
