It's been a very interesting week--so many different topics of conversation, LOL! (Okay, there's only so many times you can brag on what lovely weather we've been having and how many tourists are in town.) First, there was the question of demon possession (so much for watching the news) and meta-beings, and somebody wondered whether God qualified as one of the latter. !!!
Then later we had a big confab with several generations weighing in on whether and how much the mind shapes who we are. It ended up pretty much split down the line between oldies and youth over whether you are what you think you are. Consultation centered on self-image, homosexuality and gender, along with sports and other extreme competitions that often hang on how psyched the contestants are. That was fun!
And on another day, some friends with assorted backgrounds in Catholicism and AA and counseling got into it over the value of confessing one's sins, in public or to a priest, or where ever.
I went to the Writings on all and learned a bunch of interesting stuff that will be in upcoming articles. Here's one in the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.
Do Bahá'ís Confess Their Sins ?
Confessing one's sins and transgressions before another human being is not a source of either redemption or pardon in the Bahá'í Teachings. A believer turns only to God for forgiveness and salvation.
