Baha'i

You know, sometimes you are just so familiar with a phrase or vocabulary or adage that you no longer think about what it means. I used to memorize easily, and often at the expense of truly understanding what I had just committed to memory--ask my algebra teacher! Every once in a while I slow down and actually think about what I'm saying, and got to wondering about what might be termed the First Law of the Bahá'í Faith: to know and love God.

But wait; in another place, the Teachings say God is an unknowable essence. What?! So I spent an agreeable hour or so sorting out this paradox. Here are my findings in the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.

What/Who is God?
Improving my character and even working to build God's Kingdom on Earth seem like straightforward goals to me, but how does one know God?

Please visit bahai.bellaonline.com for other articles about my study of the Baha'i Faith. Especially last week's article on how I become a follower of Bahá'u'lláh. With so many family members sick or in hospital recently, I just didn't send out a newsletter.
