You know, sometimes you are just so familiar with a phrase or vocabulary or adage that you no longer think about what it means. I used to memorize easily, and often at the expense of truly understanding what I had just committed to memory--ask my algebra teacher! Every once in a while I slow down and actually think about what I'm saying, and got to wondering about what might be termed the First Law of the Bahá'í Faith: to know and love God.
But wait; in another place, the Teachings say God is an unknowable essence. What?! So I spent an agreeable hour or so sorting out this paradox. Here are my findings in the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.
What/Who is God?
Improving my character and even working to build God's Kingdom on Earth seem like straightforward goals to me, but how does one know God?
