Dealing with autobiographical hymns in my two previous articles led me to start thinking of autobiographical works in the secular world as well, and my thoughts immediately went to Sylvia Plath whom i had read about in college - hers is the name that pops into the mind first when someone says "confessional poetry". And it struck me with force at how much of a difference the Lord can make in a person's life. While people like Charlotte Elliott gave their lives to the Lord and moved from depression to hope, Plath suffered trouble after trouble that did nothing to help her depression. This depression ultimately forced her to commit suicide. What a difference the Lord can make!

Lady Lazarus – A Poem by Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath is a famous American Poet and writer. She wrote many autobiographical works and what is termed Confessional Poetry. Lady Lazarus is one of her autobiographical works and deals with her many suicide attempts.
