Since the last of these mailings I've spent a week in Spain visiting the Rioja wine region and 9 days in Virginia attending the American Wine Society National Conference and visiting local vineyards.

Rioja and Virginia's Chrysalis Vineyards are two of the subjects of recent articles, as is a fascinating new name 'Vigno' for old vine dry-farmed Carignan from Chile.
