Working with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, I started a support group for those with CMT in my area. My work, education and life experiences have prepared me well for this new role. I studied clinical psychology, and earned my Ph.D. in 1996. I hold a full license in psychology in the state of Michigan.
Currently, I teach online courses in psychology, which allows me to work from home. In the past, I practiced health psychology in outpatient and medical settings and taught traditional college classes.
A writer at heart, I have been published in professional journals, by a textbook publisher, and in online children’s magazines. I also helped to teach a workshop on life writing and form a writing critique group.
I have lived in the Southwest Michigan since 1990 with my husband and our three wonderful children. I enjoy spending time with my children, writing and journaling, volunteering, reading, singing in a choir, and exercising.
As the Neuromuscular Diseases Editor for BellaOnline, I intend to help you understand neuromuscular disease, and to cope and thrive, whether it affects you or someone you love.
