I was a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army National Guard for four years back in the early to mid-eighties. That was an experience I am glad to have had. I just wish now that I was in the regular Army then and was assigned to a base where I could have been an actual policeman but they say that hindsight is 20/20. I was involved in a war games my first year in and we were in Virginia for two weeks. There were National Guard units from sixteen states involved in these war games and it was the Guard against the Special Forces. The Army Special Forces were the enemy trying to attack us on American soil. Then one day, a very funny thing happened. A platoon from the National Guard company that I was in, were doing recon down a road and an Army truck with enemy markings was on the same road. The platoon from my company pulled them over and searched them. It was the enemy all right. In fact, it was there intelligence. We had all of the information about where they were going to attack, where they were going to jump in out of planes, just everything you can imagine. We were waiting for them every time and every where they came in at. My National Guard Company had made it possible to end the war with sixteen states involved, one week early.
My other experiences with crime are when I was a security guard for a couple of different shopping malls. That was hands down the best job I have ever held. I got to walk around a mall all day and get paid for it. It was a great job. Some of my duties there included aiding police and rescue services when needed, filling out incident reports, aiding security form the anchor stores, (Sears, Macy’s etc…) patrolling the parking lots and the indoor common areas of the mall for criminal activity, safety and fire hazards. Mall Security was both fun and exciting because you never knew what you were going to run into on any given day. Mall Security is one job that I wouldn’t mind having again.
Well, enough about me. Let me hear about your experiences with the law, both good and bad and let’s have some fun on the Crime Site.
