I´ve been a freelance writer and reporter since 2005, and an animal lover my whole life. I´ve always been known to wander away from pretty much any situation if there are puppies or kittens nearby, as they´re almost always guaranteed to be much more interesting than whatever I´m supposed to be doing at the time.

I have my degree in English from West Virginia University and have written on a number of different topics, but animals remain -- and always will remain -- my true love. I am fortunate enough to be "mother" to two wonderful Australian cattle dogs who are my coworkers, my friends, my confidants and my foot-warmers. I completely understand that to many, dogs are more than just pets. They´re family, they´re friends, they´re our loyal companions and our happiness.

I feel honored to have been welcomed into this community of fellow dog-lovers, sharing stories and listening to what others have to share about the most unwavering parts of our lives -- our dogs. I understand the downside to giving our hearts to these wonderful creatures as well; as I have too recently lost our shepherd mix to Leukemia and my longtime feline companion to cancer, I know that while sometimes words will not take the pain away, a community of caring individuals can help with the healing process.
