My love of the great outdoors began when I married in 1989. Goodness knows, it wasn’t from my parents – to them roughing it meant they had to get their own hotel ice!! A new husband, a dog, and a six person tent (first home paid in full!!) and I began my honeymoon adventure from sunny south Florida. Four fabulous months tent camping across the USA sparked latent wanderlust but, alas, we “settled” in Portland, Oregon.
11 years, a houseboat, and a corporate career later, change was in the air. The cool, dreary Portland winters were too much – warmer, drier climes were desired. But where?? Thus began my seven+ year full-time RVing odyssey. I sold everything – and I mean everything – houseboat, cars, dishes, clothing, kids (just kidding!!) – even the goldfish (really)!! No time line was set – we’ll “settle down” when it’s time – and it’s certainly NOT time yet!!
In those seven+ years my husband and I have RVd through all but a few states (still hoping to get to Wisconsin) and I started a couple of RV related businesses – Roadabode Productions (http://www.roadabode.com) – offering fun and functional RV note cards and RV Christmas cards and a business writing/PR line of business writing for the industry – from my RV. Have wi-fi will conduct business!!
My latest business adventure is the very popular RV Cooking Show. Part travelogue, part cooking show, each less-than-10-minute episode - filmed in my RV kitchen - shares travel tips, ideas and recommendations on popular RVing locales and products then walks viewers through the preparation of a delicious destination-related dish. Viewers can find the RV Cooking Show on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rvcookingshow&search=Search or the RV Cooking Show website at http://www.RVCookingShow.com. You´ll find the recipes in a print-friendly format and an addition tip or website about show destinations at http://www.RVCookingShow.com, too.
In sharing the road – stories of where, when, and how – I hope to spark your sense of wanderlust – whether it be for a weekend trip or a lifetime of adventure.
