About the BellaOnline Scottish Culture Editor

Asha lives in Nairn in the Highlands of Scotland. Since moving to Nairn in 2009 Asha has found herself learning about Scottish culture through local people, events and exploring. She has watched Highland Games, gone to ceilidhs, explored Portree on the Isle of Skye, seen Ben Nevis shrouded in mist, attended Scottish music concerts and searched for the Loch Ness monster. She has seen Scottish castles, lochs and lochans (a lochan is a small loch), deserted beaches and snow-covered mountains.

Asha is learning to play the clarsach (sometimes known as the Celtic Harp), a traditional Scottish instrument. Being able to read music meant that she could start to pick out simple tunes on the harp quite easily, but has to work hard at basic exercises to master technique. Asha’s other interests include walking, reading, writing and dreams.
