Enjoy the bounty of the Kanu winery and itīs award winning Chenin Blanc.
Finding a great Chenin Blanc can be a hard task. Chenin Blancs can run from "fresh and fruity," through "rich and wooded" to "dessert." The Kanu Winery of Sellenbosch, South African has succeeded in producing a fine off dry wine that is also fresh and fruity. They have incorporated the African legend of the Kanu.
This mythical bird of promise, blesses all who fall under its shadow with bountiful harvests. The Kanu Chenin Blanc has brought a harvest of acclaim to the winery. It won a gold medal at the International Wine Awards, 2002. It has also brought wine drinkers a great bargain wine.
It has a pale straw color with a green tinge. A nose of summer melon and honeysuckle, with a hint of spice. It is juicy crisp, clean, bright, and full-bodied, with a lingering aftertaste. An ideal summer and perfect picnic wine.
I have served it with many dishes. It went well with brie, fruit, and bread. It is a great summer salad wine. Try it with grill shrimp.
This wine is a buy. I paid $7 at Costplus World Market. The Kanu Winery has also won international acclaim for its other wines. The Chardonnay took a silver medal in the Chardonnay-du-Monde competition.
