Chapter 11 Order of the Phoenix: The Sorting Hat's New Song. Harry marvels some more at the carriage beasts that Ron can't see, and as they get inside notices that Hagrid really isn't there. They see the Umbridge woman from the hearing sitting at the head table. Professor Grubbly-Plank is also there, meaning she is covering for Hagrid.
The sorting hat sings a long song trying to tell them to all work together against Voldemort. The young new kids are all sorted, and the dinner begins. Ron and Hermione fight a bit and then Dumbledore starts his speech, but Umbridge "hem, hems" and interrupts him. She gives a long speech saying how things are going to change around here, and how there will be a revamping of the school. Most students ignore her completely.
Harry gets more and more upset as it appears that many students have been reading the Daily Prophet and believe he is making up stories about things he's done. Some of his own house-mates believe that to be true. They ask him what did happen with Cedric and Harry nearly gets into a fight with them.
Neville backs up Harry, and Harry finally goes to bed. But he wonders how much more grief he will have to endure before Voldemort appears publicly and everybody realizes he was right.
