For those of you who celebrate Easter, here’s a quick and easy project for today. If the kids are home and you want them to put down the video games, give them some simple supplies and these instructions to keep them busy. If you don’t celebrate Easter, substitute a flower or other shape for your next get together. I chose bright colors that said Spring to me, especially since it’s currently snowing here and we’re expecting 3 – 6 “ of the white stuff. Apparently Ole Man Winter isn’t ready to leave yet!
Anyhow, here’s the project:

You will need
Cardstock in colors of choice (I used pink, yellow and lavender)
Markers to go with cardstock colors (I used Zig Markers from EK Success, a Brush tip and a Calligraphy tip)
Scissors and ruler or paper trimmer
Rubber stamps of choice) Mine are a flower from Stampin’ Up, a dragonfly and a flower sprig from Stamps By Judith
Egg template or make your own
Tape or glue and dimensional adhesive (I used Foam Squares from Therm-O-Web)
For the place holders –
1. Cut cardstock into 4” squares.
2. Use a green marker to draw grass on the lower left side of each square. Fold the cardstock in half and crease to make the “ tent”.
3. Write desired names on each placeholder.
4. Cut an egg shape for each placeholder.
5. Decorate the egg as desired.
6. Use dimensional adhesive to attach the egg to the left side. Of the placeholder.
For the napkin rings.
1. Follow the directions above to make one egg for each napkin ring.
2. Cut a piece of cardstock 1” x 5”.
3. Roll the strip into a circle and secure with tape or glue.
4. Use dimensional adhesive to attach an egg to each napkin holder.
5. Roll napkins into a circle or fold into triangles and insert in napkin rings.
I used my Fiskars Shape Cutter and Oval Template to make my eggs. The size I used is 2” x 2 ˝ “. There are many other oval templates on the market. If you don’t have one you can make your own easily. Fold a piece of scrap paper in half. Draw half an oval on the paper, and cut it out. Unfold the paper, and you have a symmetrical oval!
I used rubber stamps and the markers to decorate my eggs. After I stamped the designs, I ran my marker around the edges of each egg to make the eggs “pop” from the background. You could also use a stamp pad if you don’t have brush tip markers in the colors you want. Paints, crayons or stickers will also work – let your imagination go wild! Kids will especially enjoy being creative as they color their eggs.
A Blessed Easter to you all!
