Controlling Oily Hair
Many women with oily skin also suffer from oily hair problems. Often the problem is a hormone imbalance or plain old genetics. Some might think that women cursed with oily hair are actually very lucky. After all oil adds luster and shine to the hair. Their hair sparkles in the sunlight. And they do not have to worry about drying out the hair or fly a way hair problems that plague women with ultra dry hair. Some might be surprised to note that there is a definite problem with hair that is too oily. Often, oily hair makes the hair
appear and feel heavy and dirty even after shampooing. Here are a few tips on controlling those over productive oil glands in the scalp that lead to oily hair conditions.
The number one way to restrain that oily hair and scalp condition is to shampoo more often. That's right! Experts agree that shampooing the hair more often instead of less is the way to combat oily hair. Women with oily hair are encouraged to wash the hair everyday to reduce the oiliness. Washing the hair everyday does not hurt oily hair but only improves its condition. And women with oily hair should remember that their oily hair requires a shampoo that is more alkaline. Look for shampoos with a higher than usual PH factor.
Oily hair needs far less conditioning. Leave the hot oil treatments for those with dry hair! Conditioning oily hair only adds to the heavy oily feeling.
After using a formula for shampooing oily hair always rinse well. Rinsing removes all particles and residue from the hair. You certainly don't want this residue to remain in the hair. Any residue that remains tends to collect more oil and dirt. One favorite home remedy or formula used for years is to add lemon juice or vinegar to a cup of cool water and pour through the hair. rinse the hair thoroughly after use and let dry. Regular use is though to help control the oily hair condition.
Those who use extra care and the tips here should notice an improvement in their oily hair conditions. If oily conditions still persist contact your doctor to discover if the problem might be hormonal.
