Jogging, running, aerobics, lifting weights are all high energy workouts that burn a tremendous amount of calories in a short amount of time while reducing stress levels in the body. These exercises are also great for toning and tightening the body, but they are very stressful on the body and might cause injury to those who are not accustomed to exercising on a regular basis. Yoga is the answer to this problem. Yoga uses a system of gentle exercises which are ideal for reducing stress in the body. Yoga is noncompetitive, relaxing, and requires no special type of equipment. That in itself reducing stress. It is clear to see that yoga is an easy way to help you cope with stress in your life while improving your health.

Yoga Practice Requirements

Yoga does not require any type of special equipment like some other exercise programs. All that is required is a quiet comfortable space and a mat or clean blanket. Yoga can be practiced indoors in cold weather or outdoors in warm weather. Yoga is easily practiced in a small space like the corner of a bedroom.

Yoga Clothing

There is no special type of clothing required to practice yoga. Just make sure that the clothing that you wear is very loose fitting and does not interfere with practicing the yoga positions or asanas. Later on, if you find that you enjoy practicing yoga, you might want to purchase a loose-fitting exercise outfit.

Yoga Practice

Some people like to practice yoga in the morning, while others find it more beneficial to practice the movements at the end of a stressful day. Yoga enthusiasts agree that a practice session should be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for the beginner. Later on, you might want to increase the time spent practicing yoga.

Yoga Classes Vs Home Practice

Yoga practitioners find that going to yoga classes along with a combination of practicing yoga at home is the best way for the beginner to learn important beginning poses or asanas. Also, it might help to read more about yoga before actually attending a class or practicing yoga at home. Reading and learning more about yoga practice is easy because there are yoga books available via the Internet, at local bookstores, and the library.
