Spring Body Cleansing
Spring rolls around and thoughts turn to repairing the wardrobe, cleaning out the closet, preparing the home for the new Spring season, but seldom do thoughts turn to Spring Cleansing the Body. In my opinion it is time to destress and start improving the body and mind. Here are a few suggesions!
Select an exercise program that you find easy to stick with throughout the year. It should be a suitable exercise program that stretches the muscles, gets the heart pumping, and gets you moving. Walking is one of the best and easiest exercises to get involved with each day. Walk for about 45 minutes to one hour per day. Walking gets you out in the fresh air and lifts the mood. Add a weight bearing exercise to promote balance. Remember to warm up before exercising and cool down for at least ten minutes afterwards.
Winter inactivity and overeating lead to weight gain during the winter months. Let's face it. When people get bored, they turn to food for comfort and pleasure. As you might know, obesity is a growing problem in the United States and leads to further health problems. Try to eat a well-balanced diet, which contains the main food groups. Always include nuts, grains, vegetables, and fruit. Reduce the amount of fatty foods in the diet. Namely, butter, cheese, ice cream, fatty meats, fried foods, desserts and sugary sweets. In the beginning it might seem difficult, but keep your eyes on the goal to eat healthier and more nutritious foods.
Modern life produces a lot of stress and strains that people have to go through every day. One situation might manifest stress in one person and not affect another. Stress might be due to conditions at work, at home, or internally based. Stress builds up over time and leads to developing conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, skin disease, even mental problems that harm the body and mind. Learn to deal with the stress by making a few lifestyle changes. For example, eating more nutritional meals that help the body cope with stress. Start an exercise program to reduce stress and anxiety levels in the body.
