Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is the fourth anime series to be based on Monkey Punch's Lupin III manga series. The series focuses on Fujiko Mine, the main heroine of the series, as she goes on various missions and encounters other characters from the Lupin III universe.
The first episode of Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is the story of how Lupin and Fujiko met. In the episode, Fujiko has penetrated into a cult in order to get a hold of the drugs the cult leader is selling in order to profit off of it herself. However, her plans are thwarted by Lupin, and the story becomes a contest between Fujiko and Lupin to see who can get their hands on the goods first.
Personally, I thought it was an enjoyable story, and both Lupin and Fujiko act the way you would expect them to if you're already familiar with these characters from the other Lupin III series. It was easy to believe that the story being told could take place in the already established Lupin III universe.
The animation utilized in this series is the closest of the four Lupin III anime series to the look and feel of Monkey Punch's manga. When I watched the first episode, I had to keep reminding myself that I was watching a series from 2012, and not an anime from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Content-wise, there is a bit of nudity in regards to Fujiko. However, considering that her character is a seductress, the nudity feels more like it's part of her character rather than simply being there for gratuitous reasons. There is also some violence with gunfights, which is to be expected in a Lupin III series; but, I really didn't notice any blood when I watched the first episode.
From the content presented in Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, it's definitely the most adult-oriented series in the franchise. FUNimation has given the series a TV-MA rating and prohibits viewers who are under 17 from watching the stream on their website.
With that TV-MA rating, I can only truly recommend Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine to anime viewers who are 18 years of age and older.
