Chinese Recipes for Mother's Day


Searching for something unique this motherís day? How about an Asian inspired breakfast in bed or an easy Chinese brunch? Here are two different menus that are sure to please mom this holiday.


Momís Breakfast in Bed Menu

Stir Fried Tomato and Eggs
Tomato and egg is the perfect breakfast combination, with the balance of salt and sugar and just a bit of green onion this stir fry has an amazingly unique flavor! It is authentically Chinese and easy to make.

Chinese Scallion (Green Onion) Pancakes
Unlike traditional pancakes, these pancakes are more savory than sweet and are great served alongside eggs for breakfast. They are simple to make and are perfect for breakfast in bed.

Wonton Fruit Cups
Here is a quick and easy Asian inspired fruit cup recipe that takes no time to make. Baked wonton cups filled with a delicious mix of gingered whip cream, honey dew melon, strawberries, and apple slices are sure to make mom happy.

Almond Cookies
These traditional almond cookies have a biscuit like texture and are rich and full of flavor. They are sure to be a hit with anyone who loves baked goods.

Chinese Mary
Here is a Chinese twist on a traditional ďnext dayĒ drink. It is made very similar to the Bloody Mary, simply substituting the tomato juice with sweet and sour sauce, and the lime wedge with a pineapple wheel. Place the vodka, sweet and sour sauce, worcestershire, tabasco, and lemon juice in a shaker with ice. Shake and then pour over fresh ice in an old fashion glass.

Ingredients:
1 Ĺ oz Vodka
3 oz sweet and sour sauce
Ĺ tsp worcestershire
3 drops Tabasco
Ĺ tsp lemon juice
1 pineapple wheel



Motherís Day Brunch Menu

Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp Dumplings)
Siu mai are small steamed dumplings that are filled with a traditional mixture of pork, shrimp, and spices and garnished with a small square piece of carrot. These petite little morsels are perfect for a brunch.

Chinese Chicken Salad
This delicious salad has teriyaki grilled chicken on top of a bed of mixed greens topped with crunchy noodles. The chicken and salad dressing are prepared the night before, making this an easy and perfect dish for motherís day.

Flower Rolls
Chinese flower rolls are wonderful steamed rolls that are great served with dinner. They do take a bit of time to make, but the effort is well worth the result.

Bubble Tea
Sweetened black or green tea mixed with milk and/or cream and chewy large tapioca pearls is a popular treat. This is sure to be a refreshing hit with mom this holiday.

Mandarin Orange Cake
Layers of ladyfingers, cream, and mandarin oranges come together to make the perfect treat. This delicious dessert is perfect for motherís day and is simple to make, but it does require overnight refrigeration so make sure to prepare it the day before.
